Vintage Italian Food Advertising Poster:  Vero Estratto di Carne Liebig, by L. Metlicovitz.

A bare chested strongman holds a bull by its horns, by Leopoldo Metlicovitz.  From the Ricordi Portfolio, published by G. Ricordi, Milano, Italia, 1914, 14-1/8" x 10-1/4" overall, 10-1/2" x 6-3/4" image size.  Developed in 1840 as a nutritious supplement for people unable to afford meat, Liebig Beef Extract quickly became a staple in middle class Victorian households as well as for soldiers and adventurers.  The poster is lithographed in navy blue, brown, gray, and white.
